Suppose you prepared a party...

Outside it was a mess after the storm had blown through so the driveway had to be swept clean...

the dog was charged with looking out for the early arrivals...
a host of ghosts settled down ready to flee one by one at the sound of the doorbell...
the candy basket was filled with the candy you like along with the decorated pencils that are popular...
it got plenty dark out there...
this fellow kept a sense of humor about it all...

BUT no-one came!

I guess we didn't get the memo that said Halloween was cancelled this year.

  1. Well I'm glad you have that problem too.

What lurked inside the "host of ghosts"?

Some years we have a drought, some years we have a flood. This year we had a flood but never fear - AK's candy supply held out! Surprisingly enough the few old Chupa Chup lollipops I added to the basket were the most popular - possibly due to the fact that they made a change from the Supermarket chocolate bar specials that everyone otherwise had on offer (note to self to remember that for next year!)

Carolyn & Alex were here for dinner and, like others of my generation, sceptical at our participation in Halloween. We were all pleasantly surprised at how very polite the majority of callers were and the fact that they only took a single candy bar each (tho I did hear UJ foil a couple of grab attempts!) I was also impressed at the extent of the dress-up efforts.

Fortunately we have not got to the PC stage of having to offer alternatives to sweets tho I do keep a few gluten free lollipops aside.

The children next door were forbidden to go trick or treating so I had to tell their Mum I needed to see them about something - it's pretty bad when you can't offer candy to the kids you do know only to have to give it to random callers you don't!

  2. We buy candy and eat too much. Norris goes to the fire station and gets more too much. We have only two residents under the age of 18 in the development. Any trick or treater who made it up our driveway would deserve an entire pound of treats.
I hope Rolo was not too disappointed.

While I write this blog for my own fun, I would also love to know what you think about what I post.
